Structural surveys can take many forms and cover a varied set of problems. We can provide you with any level of service to meet any type of structural survey you may need; be it a purchase survey on a domestic property; subsidence surveys; surveys of barns and other uninhabitable buildings prior to developing a scheme to convert; surveys of reinforced concrete framed buildings; fire damaged structures; accidental or malicious damaged structures; the list is almost endless.

The primary intention of a survey is outlined by the proposal for the structure. Simple questions can determine the whole survey:

  • can I convert my barn to residential?
  • is this building in imminent danger of falling down?
  • what level of maintenance is required to extend the useful life of my structure?
  • what caused the cracking to my house?

Forensic surveys can provide very interesting projects, including fire damaged structures, accidental damage from vehicles or vandalism. We have been involved in accidental damage assessment of structures following vehicle collisions.

One client was the fabricator of mobile bulk handling equipment and one piece of equipment had been damaged. We were asked to assess the damage and determine how it was caused – the fabricator claimed operator error and the operator obviously claimed that it was a manufacturing error. Our detailed site inspection was followed by structural calculations to determine the cause of the defect.
